Class Descriptions
We are an Ashtanga yoga based studio. Ranging in intensity from slow and meditative to vigorous and challenging, you'll receive many physical benefits from our classes, but these are far more than just exercise classes.  These are flowing practices that connect a powerful awareness of breath and inner sensation with movement to cultivate strength, flexibility, and contentment.  Each class includes a complete relaxation, breathwork (pranayama), and meditation. Become light!
NOTE:  ALL classes are suitable for Beginners.
Really!  Please don't be intimidated.  :)  These practices are individualized with everyone in the room being offered options that are appropriate for them.  There are people of all shapes, sizes, ages, gender and physical condition in each class... it's as challenging or gentle as you need it to be.  The only exception:  if you are pre-natal, have a serious injury or difficulty getting up and down from the floor please consider starting with Mindfulness, Beginner or Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation.
Please call Penny at 590-9800 with any concern at all!
Ashtanga Yoga
This class involves synchronizing the breath with a series of postures.  Individualized physical therapy for our aching bodies and rest for our minds! The result is improved flexibility and circulation, a light and strong body, and a calm mind.  Options are offered for all poses- all people in all conditions can take this class.  Please call Penny at 590-9800 f you have any special considerations.

Dharma Vinyasa Yoga
This class first warms and prepares the body with a dynamic flow that focuses on opening hips, spine and chakras and then progresses into longer held meditative poses and practices. A devotional and challenging (but enjoyable and doable!) class.

Hip Yoga

We all carry a great deal of tightness in our hips and low backs and if this tension can be alleviated even a small amount we'll immediately feel better in our bodies.  Hip Yoga is slow paced and very relaxing as we focus on deep breathing and the 'magic' of the release the breath brings in each pose. All the poses are done on the floor with props and supports so that absolutely everyone is able to participate. Very beneficial as cross training as well.  Perfect if you ARE hip or HAVE hips :)

Mindfulness Yoga

This slower moving, very meditative class weaves physical poses, breath, and inner awareness together to create a deeply calming experience. Observation of thoughts and physical sensation is used as a doorway to a quieter mind.  Includes a deep relaxation, breath work (pranayama) and meditation.  Meaningful and appropriate for everyone regardless of previous experience.

Yoga Nidra Guided Meditation

Yoga Nidra is receiving attention from the medical community, therapists, those seeking more peace in their lives, and those seeking a greater connection with their own spirituality.  Lying down, a guided relaxation takes you deep inward through the levels of your being as you set a personal intention specific to your life.  This method has proven effective in aiding healing, stress relief, addictions, feelings of loss, and releasing long-standing behavioral patterns.  This guided meditation leads to complete physical, mental, and emotional relaxation.

Pranayama&Meditation

In the West, when we hear about a yoga class, we tend to automatically picture the practice of physical poses (asana). Physical poses are, however, just one method available to quiet the mind and turn your attention inward.  Instead of practicing physical yoga poses during this class, you will be seated and learning the techniques of  pranayama (breath/energy work) and meditation.  No yoga experience is necessary- everyone is welcome
